Maker Call Out – Derby Poetry Festival Bookcase Project
Derby Poetry Festival are looking to recruit a Derby or Derbyshire-based Carpenter/Artist/Maker for an upcoming project launching later in the year. We’re looking for someone to devise, design and make a portable bookcase/library which will be used to distribute books at festivals, events, and areas of cultural interest (both indoor and outdoor locations) across Derbyshire.
The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and making and working to a brief, but also feel comfortable in presenting their own ideas to the wider DPF team. They will be able to discuss their ideas with the DPF team, be open to suggestions and present unique and out the box thinking and ideas.

About Derby Poetry Festival
Derby Poetry Festival is a four-day poetry and literature festival held in the centre of Derby in the autumn. We are dedicated to developing new writing talent in Derby and bringing excellent poetry to the city.
Previous headliners include Terrance Hayes, Linton Quasi Johnson, recent T S Elliott winner Joelle Taylor and Shivanee Ramlochan.
We host a range of performances, workshops, slams and panel discussions for all ages in partnership with many venues in the city including Quad, Derby Libraries, Derby Museums, Derby Theatre, DEDA and Waterstones. Supported by Arts Council England.
Fee:
The Fee is £1000 for the maker, we expect this to cover approx. 5 days of work at £200 per day. There is an additional budget for materials, cost to be discussed with candidates
Timeline:
We’d like to begin using the bookcase in Summer/Autumn 2024.
