Derby Poetry Festival 2024 Annual Slam Registration Form
The 6th annual Derby Poetry Festivals returns to Derby from the 2nd to 6th October 2024.
Every year on the Friday night we host our annual Slam. A poetry competition of two rounds where poets perform and are scored out of 10 on both performance and writing, the winner taking home the title and bragging rights.
Hosted on Friday 4th October in the Italian Mill at the Museum of Making, this years Slam is an event not to be missed.
Applications are open and we will select approx. 14 competitors. Those selected will be informed in September once applications close. Applicants will also be invited to attend a Digital Workshop with Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa (details found here) and an optional Slam workshop in late September details TBC.
In line with our commitment to be as accessible as possible, the slam will be BSL interpreted and we would ask that all selected slammers submit a copy of their poems to interpreters by 20th September
This years judges are Jack Coverdale, Ben McPherson, Dan Webber and Jasmine Gardosi. The night will be hosted by Aoife O'Connor, and Omar Khan will be DJing.
